Raleigh, N.C.– The Transformative Action Institute (TAI) will host the Summit for Transformative Education this October 18th – 20th in Raleigh, N.C.
The Transformative Action Institute is a non-profit that teaches the most effective methods for how people can transform their lives and the world. TAI’s Founder and Director, Dr. Scott Sherman, has taught courses on transformative action at Yale, Princeton, NYU and other universities; his work garnered the support of the Echoing Green Fellowship, Unreasonable Institute, and StartingBloc. TAI has reached thousands through their programming, from university classes in Colorado and China to high schools in Uganda and incubators for social entrepreneurs, and the organization is thrilled to bring their work to North Carolina’s capital.
The Summit will host 80+ educators, social entrepreneurs, and students to unveil some of the newest exercises and resources for training young people who want to change the world. Participants will also receive materials to take back to their campuses, including a 350-page Teacher’s Manual, with dozens of activities included for teaching social innovation; the network of attendees; and all the resources and materials for the activities that will allow for ease of use in classrooms across the nation. This curriculum is highly lauded, with national support from the Dell Social Innovation Challenge, Ashoka U and more. Local endorsements include the University of North Carolina School System, the N.C. State Entrepreneurship Initiative, CASE of Duke University, Bull City Forward, CUBE of UNC-Chapel Hill, and HQ Raleigh.
“This is going to be an incredible event for all involved,” claimed the East Coast Summit Organizer and NCSU graduate, Kevin Miller. “Participants will engage in a high impact curriculum that will transform the way they approach teaching social change and social innovation. We are thrilled by the outpouring of support we’ve received, from the local social entrepreneurship community to the incredible universities that call the N.C. Triangle home. This is a huge win for the N.C. educational and social innovation scene.”
Tickets are now open and disappearing fast. Individuals can register and learn more about the event at Transformativeaction.org or by visiting this event page. Not able to attend the conference but would like to connect with the community? We are hosting a party on October 19th from 8:00 to 11:00 at Cirque De Vol Studios in downtown Raleigh; all are invited to attend.

What people are saying about the Transformative Action Institute’s work:
“Not only were we exposed to cutting edge scientific research to equip us in our work, but were also able to meet change agents around the world that were willing to lock arms with us moving forward. The Transformative Education Summit is the single best experience I could recommend for any educator, social entrepreneur, or concerned citizens serious about transformation on both individual and institutional levels.” – Roberto Rivera, Named one of the “Top Young Change Agents in America” by the Search for Common Ground Coalition, President of The Good Life Organization
“If every youth across the world had the opportunity to go through Transformative Action our world would be a very different place. It is by far the best model I know of to develop the skills of personal and social change: empathy, creativity, resilience, grit, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
